BEAUTY TO ME
HELLO THERE !
What is beauty to you? a girl with fair skin? a man with a small mustache? Actually beauty has no clear definition. Why? Because different people have different perspectives towards beauty. If we compare our perception about beauty with our friends, there will be different opinions. However, the opinions might have only slightly differences because culture and technology advancement may influenced their beauty perspectives.

From my perspective, for Asians, they mostly prefer women with fair skin, slim body and long hair. However for Africans, women with tanned skin, bald and lip plate are considered as beauty. While in Brazil, they tend to perceive women with guitar-shaped body and shiny straight hair as beauty. Even in Disney movies, there are a lot of princesses have different beauty personalities. For Aurora (the sleeping beauty), she has fair skin and blonde hair. For Jasmine who is from East Asia, she has tanned skin and and black long hair. For Mulan who is from China, she has slanted eyes and wide forehead.
Each culture in the world has their own perspectives towards beauty. So if anyone around you told that you’re not pretty enough, don’t worry because there will be an area in this small world considered your beauty as the most beautiful creature on the Earth.
I believe that beauty perception nowadays is influenced by technology advancement. As we all know, lots of advertisements whether smartphone promotion advertisements or beauty care products advertisements, the businesses tend to use super thin body and fair skin women as their models and ambassadors. Especially in social media such as Instagram, twitter and Facebook, there are a lot of reviews been made by women with those ‘beauty’ characteristics promoting beauty products they used. This has contributes a lot to changes of beauty perceptions as we can see, a lot of people spend most of their time for social media especially teenagers.
From my own experience, my friends around me always spend their time to watch those reviews and influenced them to buy the beauty products. They don't even bother what the product is made of either it is harmful for their skin or not. The most important for them that the product can make them as beauty as those women who promoted the product.

Moreover, people these days are emphasizing on beauty too much. I have seen majority of young women are willing to spend their money a lot to just make them look pretty by using a variety of cosmetic products and even take plastic surgery either on their face or body or both of it. Furthermore, teenage women (especially my sisters) also watch a lot of make-up tutorials in YouTube as those videos achieved the highest viewers than other categorical videos. There are a lot of comments about the models in the videos become their inspirations and also some of them about their disappointment towards themselves to compare with those models. This has leads to the women to have low self-esteem and become less confidence with what they are now. That’s why some of women are afraid to out of their house without wearing any make-up. Even my mom having bad mood if she forgot to wear any make-up to any wedding occasions.
To conclude, beauty perceptions nowadays not only rely on culture but also technology advancement with the presence of media social and beauty apps. The definition of beauty will keep on changing as the time flows. So, you don't need to force yourself to be as beauty as those models in the advertisements. JUST BE YOURSELF! There are a lot of people are tend to see your inner beauty rather than the outer one. I think that's all from me. Gotta go now. BYE!
XOXO,

ReplyDeleteI totally agree the princesses part. They really are portraying different kinds of "beautiful"!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with the last part! I personally find people with a nice heart very beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteYou've got a point there Fakhira! I personally agree that beauty should come from within too, not from outer looks only! Since beauty is constantly changing along with the passage of time, we are not obligated to fit whatever image society desire. We should just stay true to authentic selves :)
